On the discovery of a burglary:

• Secure the premises to prevent further losses. Do not attempt to clear up or undertake permanent repairs or dispose of any damaged assets until advised by the Insurer/Loss Adjuster.
• Report the incident to the nearest Police Station and obtain the name and badge number of the officer taking the report.
• Inform CIC immediately.
• Await the arrival of the Insurer/Loss Adjuster/CIC representative.
• Take an inventory to establish what has been stolen and the extent of damage to the premises.
• Prepare a detailed statement of claim, together with copies of invoices and estimates to substantiate amounts claimed.

Please note that the adjuster may not accept accounts especially of stock that are not prepared by a certified accountant or recognized auditor. You must in every case be able to prove the value of your loss.
