Because of the wide scope of this cover it is almost always necessary to provide proper proof of loss. On the discovery of a loss:

• Report the loss to the police. This is important, as it is a policy requirement.
• Inform CIC immediately.
• Appoint an appropriate auditor to certify the quantum of the loss.
• Obtain from the employees involved precisely worded statements of the circumstances of the loss.
• Obtain statements from witnesses wherever possible.
• Prepare a detailed statement of claim together with copy of documents to substantiate the amount claimed.

Please note that insurers may insist on the provision of audited reports.
