This class of insurance is mandatory by law under the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1960

Statutory Obligations
Employers are responsible for all injuries, occupational illnesses or disease sustained by a workman, as defined in the Act, arising out of and in the course of his/her employment irrespective of negligence i.e. the employer is liable to pay an employee compensation even-if the injury, disease or illness was not caused by negligence on the part of the employer. The Act also makes the employer responsible for Medical Expenses arising out of the injury up to a limit of TT$500.00.

Scope of Cover
Covers work injuries or disease arising out of and in the course of employment by the Insured.  Benefits payable in accordance with the Workmen’s Compensation Ordinance No. 24 of 1960,  Compensation for Injuries Ordinance Chapter 5 No. 5 of Trinidad & Tobago and/or at Common Law Limit - $2,500,000.00
